This song is stuck in my head! Love the guitar he plays in the beginning of the song. Especially love it when the song gets LOUD!!! "Operator please, Pass me back to my mind!"
Little black submarines
Operator please
Put me back on the line
Told my girl I'd be back
Operator please
This is wrecking my mind
Oh, can it be
The voices calling me
They get lost and out of time
I should've seen it glow
But everybody knows
That a broken heart is blind
That a broken heart is blind
Pick you up, let you down
When I wanna go
To a place I can hide
You know me, I had plans
But they just disappeared
To the back of my mind
Oh, can it be
The voices calling me
They get lost and out of time
I should've seen it glow
But everybody knows
That a broken heart is blind
That a broken heart is blind
Treasure maps, falling trees
Operator please
Call me back when it's time
Stolen friends and disease
Operator please
Pass me back to my mind
Oh, can it be
The voices calling me
They get lost and out of time
I should've seen it go
But everybody knows
That a broken heart is blind
That a broken heart is blind
That a broken heart is blind

The Cave by Mumford and Sons
This is my favorite version of this song. Back to the basics...Four instruments unplugged can get me going just as much as a full band! "I will hold on hope...And I'll find strength in pain... And I need to know how, To live my life as it's meant to be!"
It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you've left behind
The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat
But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
‘Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth
Which will refresh my broken mind
So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears
But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know their maker's land
So make your siren's call
And sing all you want!!!!!
I will not hear what you have to say
‘Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be!!!!
And I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Grey Blue Eyes by Dave Matthews and Trey Anastasio....
Love how Trey makes this song sound, well, Phishy:) My favorite version for sure! Still not too much of a Dave fan these days, but I do think this is a beautiful song... Reminds me of a friend I knew. "My faith has got me bound to your grey blue eyes..."
I feel for the light
Your glory was lost that night
And no mind can't get me right
And now I'm praying that you'll find me out
Stone, stone has pulled me down
But my faith has got me bound to your grey blue eyes
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Don't forget my broken heart
You remember it from the start
You made it and it's all a part
Of your grey blue eyes
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
You're gone and I know I'm dead
I've lost my way
Help me find it, in your grey blue eyes !!!!

Behind Blue Eyes by the Who
The Who rocks. I remember my Poppop took me to see Tommy on Broadway when I was ten (ish). I guess I have always been bound to the music I love..."No one knows what is't like to feel these feelings, Like I do...None of my pain and woe, Can show through!"
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through!
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
And if I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
And If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
And If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

My Three Doggies
Don't worry K and Z...Playroom saved and cleaned. This is what happens when I have too much free time!
Fearless by Pink Floyd
Haven't heard this song in a bit. It's just as good as I remember:) The guitar makes this song so absolutely amazing. "And EVERY DAY is the right day!"
You say the hill's too steep to climb
Climb it.
You say you'd like to see me try
Climbing.
You pick the place and I'll choose the time
And I'll climb,
That hill in my own way.
Just wait a while for the right day.
And as I rise above the tree lines and the clouds
I look down, hearing the sound of the things you've said today.
Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd
Smiling.
Merciless the magistrate turns 'round
Frowning.
And who's the fool who wears the crown?
And go down,
In your own way
And ever day is the right day
And as you rise above the fear-lines in his brow
You look down, feel the sound of the faces in the crowd.

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Perfect song for a Saturday morning. It's a Neil Young kind of weekend. "There was a band playing in my head..."
Well, I dreamed I saw the knights
In armor coming,
Saying something about a queen.
There were peasants singing and
Drummers drumming
And the archer split the tree.
There was a fanfare blowing
To the sun
That was floating on the breeze.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
I was lying in a burned out basement
With the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst thru the sky.
There was a band playing in my head!!!
And I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.
Well, I dreamed I saw the silver
Space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun,
There were children crying
And colors flying
All around the chosen ones.
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun.
They were flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home in the sun.
Flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home.

Breakdown by Jack Johnson
I am buying a ukelele this weekend and learning how to play! I am thinking I will have more success teaching myself how to play a ukulele, as opposed to the guitar, because it is much smaller! I can definitely teach myself:) And after this long week of work and life, I soooo need a break so I don't breakdown! "But you cant stop nothing, If you got no control, Of the thoughts in your mind, That you kept in, you know..."
I hope this old train breaks down
Then I could take a walk around
And, see what there is to see
And time is just a melody
All the people in the street
Walk as fast as their feet can take them
I just roll through town
And though my windows got a view
The frame I'm looking through
Seems to have no concern for now
So for now
I need this
Old train to breakdown
Oh please just
Let me please breakdown!!!!
This engine screams out loud
Centipede gonna crawl westbound
So I don't even make a sound
Cause it's gonna sting me when I leave this town
All the people in the street
That I'll never get to meet
If these tracks don't bend somehow
And I got no time
That I got to get to
Where I don't need to be
So I
I need this
Old train to breakdown
Oh please just
Let me please breakdown
I need this
Old train to breakdown
Oh please just
Let me please breakdown
I wanna break on down
But I cant stop now
Let me break on down
But you cant stop nothing
If you got no control
Of the thoughts in your mind
That you kept in, you know
You don't know nothing
But you don't need to know
The wisdoms in the trees
Not the glass windows!!!
You cant stop wishing
If you don't let go
But things that you find
And you lose, and you know
You keep on rolling
Put the moment on hold
The frames too bright
So put the blinds down low
I need this
Old train to breakdown
Oh please just
Let me please breakdown
I need this

When The Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin
Sometimes you need a studio version. "Don't it make you feel bad, When you're tryin to find your way home, You don't know which way to go..."
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break
When the levee breaks I'll have no place to stay
Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan
Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well
Don't it make you feel bad
When you're tryin' to find your way home
You don't know which way to go?
If you're goin' down South
They got no work to do
If you're going North to Chicago.
Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good... no
Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move
All last night sat on the levee and moaned
All last night sat on the levee and moaned
Thinkin' about my baby and my happy home
Going, going to Chicago.. Going to Chicago..
Sorry but I can't take you..
Going down.. going down now.. going down...

Midnight Rider by Gregg Allman and Friends
This is exactly what I needed this Monday morning!!! (Follow the link, embedding disabled.) When I was 16, my English teacher asked for every student to bring in a song that described their life. This is what I played for my class. Not sure what I was running from then, but I still love this song just as much almost 20 years later;) "I've gone by the point of caring..."
Well, I've got to run to keep from hidin'
And I'm bound to keep on ridin'
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing
And the road goes on forever!
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
And I've gone by the point of caring!!!
Some old bed I'll soon be sharing
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
No, I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
Well, I've got to run to keep from hidin'
And I'm bound to keep on ridin'
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider

Mississippi Half Step by the Grateful Dead
Great version of this song! I like how young they all are.. "Hello baby, I'm gone GOODBYE!"
On the day that I was born
Daddy sat down and cried
I had the mark just as plain as day
Which could not be denied
They say that Cain caught Abel
Rolling loaded dice,
Ace of spades behind his ear
And him not thinking twice
Half-step
Mississippi Uptown Toodleloo
Hello baby, I'm gone, goodbye
Half a cup of rock and rye
Farewell to you old southern sky
I'm on my way - on my way
If all you got to live for
Is what you left behind
Get yourself a powder charge
And seal that silver mine
I lost my boots in transit babe
A pile of smoking leather
Nailed a retread to my feet
And prayed for better weather
Half-step
Mississippi Uptown Toodleloo
Hello, baby, I'm gone, good-bye
Half a cup of rock and rye
Farewell to you old southern sky
I'm on my way - on my way
They say that when your ship comes in
The first man takes the sails
The second takes the afterdeck
The third the planks and rails
What's the point to callin shots?
This cue ain't straight in line
Cueball's made of styrofoam
And no one's got the time
Half-step
Mississippi Uptown Toodleloo
Hello baby, I'm gone, goodbye

Grey Street by Dave Matthews Band
There have been so many times in the past decade where I just wanted to scream this exact song, for the world to hear, from the top of my roof! Love it when music says it for you. Not hearing it quite the same this morning, though:) This is a short version of this song with only half the lyrics, but it works. "She feels like kicking out all the windows and setting fire to this life!"
Oh look at how she listens
She says nothing of what she thinks
She just goes stumbling through her memories
Staring out on to Grey Street
She thinks, “Hey,
How did I come to this?
I dream myself a thousand times around the world,
But I can’t get out of this place”
There’s an emptiness inside her
And she’d do anything to fill it in
But all the colors mix together - to grey
And it breaks her heart!!!!
How she wishes it was different
She prays to God most every night
And though she knows well it doesn’t listen
There’s still a tiny hope in her it might
She says, “I pray
But my prayers they fall on deaf ears,
Am I supposed to take it on myself?
To get out of this place”
There’s loneliness inside her
And she’d do anything to fill it in
And though it’s red blood bleeding from her now
It felt like cold blue ice in her heart
She feels like kicking out all the windows
And setting fire to this life!!!!!!!
She would change everything about her using colors bold and bright
But all the colors mix together - to grey
And it breaks her heart
It breaks her heart
To grey

Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin
I find that I am breaking out into this song quite often recently. Loud too. My students, kids, and dogs think I am nutty but it's too fun not to sing this song loud. No instruments needed;) "
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV
Dialing For Dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until three,
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town
I'm counting on you, Lord, please don't let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round,
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town
Everybody!
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends,
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
That's it!
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV

I'm counting on you, Lord, please don't let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round,
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town
Everybody!
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends,
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
That's it!

A mural I painted free hand for fun.
"Let your soulshine, Better then sunshine, Better then moonshine, Damn sure better then rain. Now people don't mind, We all get this way sometimes. Gotta let your soulshine, Shine till the break of day.."
"Lean on Me..."-To my Laurs!
"Stay with me, Let's just breathe..."
"Gonna rise up, turning mistakes into gold..."
"Heavenly wine and roses, Seem to whisper to me, When you smile..."
"And be a simple kind of man, Be something you love and understand..."
"Let it grow, Let it grow, Let it blossom, Let it flow, In the sun, the rain the snow, Love is lovely, So let it grow..."
"Life I love you all is groovy..."
"I know I was born and I know that I'll die. Then in between is mine. I am mine..."

Statesboro Blues by The Allman Brothers and Taj Mahal
Lyrics are not quite right but I just love this version! Last time I posted this song I was on my way to the Peach Festival:) Makes me happy. "Well, now, she treat me like a king, yeah, yeah, yeah, And she look like a dog gone queen..."
Come As You Are by Nirvana
This unplugged album will forever be one of my favorites. It's an album you can play straight through on repeat:) Unfortunately, he did have a gun and selfishly killed himself. Such a shame! "Come as you are, as you were, As I want you to be..."
Come as you are, as you were
As I want you to be
As a friend, as a friend
As an old enemy
Take your time, hurry up
The choice is yours, don't be late
Take a rest as a friend
As an old
Memoria, memoria
Memoria, memoria
Come doused in mud, soaked in bleach
As I want you to be
As a trend, as a friend
As an old
Memoria, memoria
Memoria, memoria
And I swear that I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun
Memoria, memoria
Memoria, memoria
And I swear that I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun
Memoria, memoria

Grand Funk Railroad - I'm Your Captain (Live 1971)
It's sooooo cold out that dancing while getting ready for work is a must!!! The people in this video are definitely having some serious kinds of FUN;) Lyrics are off but that is not a surprise considering how much fun they really are having. "If you return me to my home port, I will kiss you, Mother Earth!"
Everybody, listen to me
And return me my ship
I'm your captain, I'm your captain
Though I'm feeling mighty sick
I've been lost now, days uncounted
And it's months since I've seen home
Can you hear me, can you hear me
Or am I all alone
If you return me to my home port
I will kiss you, Mother Earth
Take me back now, take me back now
To the port of my birth
Am I in my cabin dreaming
Or are you really scheming
To take my ship away from me?
You'd better think about it
I just can't live without it
So, please don't take my ship from me, yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm getting closer to my home...

Cry Freedom by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds
This is a very wordy sad song but I love the chorus!!! "Hands and feet are all alike, But gold between divide us, Hands and feet are all alike, But fear between divide us..."
How can I turn away
Brother/Sister go dancing
Through my head
Human as to human
The future is no place
To place your better days
Cry freedom cry
From a crowd 10,000 wide
Hope laid upon hope
That this crowd will not subside
Let this flag burn to dust
And a new a fair design be raised
While we wait head in hands
Hands in prayer
And fall into a dreamless sleep again
And we wave our hands
Hands and feet are all alike
But gold between divide us
Hands and feet are all alike
But fear between divide us
All slip away
There was a window and by it stood
A mirror in which
He could see himself
He thought of something
Something he had never had but hoped would come along
Cry freedom, cry
From deep inside
Where we are all confined
While we wave hands in fire
Wave our hands
Hands and feet are all alike
But gold between divide us
Hands and feet are all alike
But fear between divide us,
Slip away
In this room stood a little child
And in this room this little child
She would remain
Until someone might decide
To dance this little child
Across this hall
Into a cold, dark, space
Where she might never trace her way across this crooked mile
Across this crooked page
Cry freedom, cry
From deep inside where
We are all confined
Till we wave our hands
How can I turn away
Brother/Sister go dancing
Through my head
Human as to human
The future is no place
To place your better days
Hands and feet are all alike
But gold between divide us
Hands and feet are all alike
But fear between divide us
Hands and feet are all alike
Hear what I say
Hear what I say
Oh, so be it
How can I turn away
Brother/Sister go dancing
Through my head
Human as to human
The future is no place
To place your better days

Morning Dew by the Grateful Dead
Sunday morning music. "There's no need for you to be worrying about all those people...I'll walk you out in the morning dew my honey!"
Walk me out in the morning dew my honey,
Walk me out in the morning dew today.
I can't walk you out in the morning dew my honey,
I can't walk you out in the morning dew today.
I thought I heard a baby cry this morning,
I thought I heard a baby cry this today.
You didn't hear no baby cry this morning,
You didn't hear no baby cry today.
Where have all the people gone my honey,
Where have all the people gone today.
There's no need for you to be worrying about all those people,
You never see those people anyway!!!
I thought I heard a young man mourn this morning,
I thought I heard a young man mourn today.
I thought I heard a young man mourn this morning,
I can't walk you out in the morning dew today.
Walk me out in the morning dew my honey,
Walk me out in the morning dew today.
I'll walk you out in the morning dew my honey,
I guess it doesn't really matter anyway,
I guess it doesn't matter anyway,
I guess it doesn't matter anyway,
Guess it doesn't matter anyway.

I guess it doesn't matter anyway,
I guess it doesn't matter anyway,
Guess it doesn't matter anyway.

"So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye. There ain't no good guys, there ain't no bad guys. There's only you and me and we just disagree..."
Such a fun song to sing really REALLY loud:)

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down performed by The Black Crowes
Amazing version of this song!!!! This put me in such a happy mood this morning. I am ready to get the weekend started. The snow day had a little bit to help with all that happiness as well;) "You take what you need and you leave the rest..."
Virgil Kane is the name
And I served on the Danville train
'Till Stoneman's cavalry came
And tore up the tracks again
In the winter of '65
We were hungry, just barely alive
By May the 10th, Richmond had fell
It's a time I remember, oh so well
The night they drove old Dixie down
And the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
And the people were singing
They went, "Na, na, la, na, na, la"
Back with my wife in Tennessee
When one day she called to me
"Virgil, quick, come see,
There goes Robert E. Lee!"
Now, I don't mind chopping wood
And I don't care if the money's no good
You take what you need
And you leave the rest!!!
But they should never
Have taken the very best
The night they drove old Dixie down
And the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
And all the people were singing
They went, "Na, na, la, na, na, la"
Like my father before me
I will work the land
And like my brother above me
Who took a rebel stand
He was just 18, proud and brave
But a Yankee laid him in his grave
I swear by the mud below my feet
You can't raise a Kane back up
When he's in defeat
The night they drove old Dixie down
And the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
And all the people were singing
They went, "Na, na, la, na, na, la"
The night they drove old Dixie down
And all the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down
And the people were singing
They went, "Na, na, la, na, na, la"

Sun Is Gonna Shine Again by Steve Martin, Edie Brickell...
The new year really doesn't do much for me because in all reality it's just a different date. BUT I did wake up feeling very hopeful and happy:) Happy 2014..."Something tells me it'll be alright, Something tells me it's gonna be okay, The sun is gonna shine again, The sun is gonna shine again!!!"
Lonely broken feeling
Lonely to my soul
You got the look
You got the feel
You got the face of true love
You got the charm
You got appeal
I got to let you go!
So long sweet embraces
So long summertime
You got the power
You got the faith
You got the El Camino
You got the night
You got the day
I got the ole dark cloud
The sun is gonna shine again
The sun is gonna shine again
Long time
I've been waiting a long time
Long enough
You got the song!
You got the dance
You got the inspiration
You got it all palm of your hand
I got the rolling wheel
The sun is gonna shine again
The sun is gonna shine again
Something tells me it'll be alright
Something tells me it's gonna be okay
The sun is gonna shine again
The sun is gonna shine again
